Asian Pacific Islander Small Business Program
Receives $100,000 from Wells Fargo (July 2007)
Wells Fargo presented Asian Pacific Islander
Small Business Program with a $100,000 donation to support
its many programs. The 2007 annual contribution will enable
the highly successful API SBP to continue serving approximately
2500 entrepreneurs yearly.
"The bank has high regard for API SBPÕs
work and holds its partnership with the group in high regard,"
said Wells FargoÕs Rick Lam, VP for Business Banking. "Their
approach to helping principally Asian immigrant entrepreneurs
in their own languages is very commendable" he added. API
SBP operates its program of business counseling and workshops
from five locations and six Asian languages plus English.
API SBP is a collaboration of Chinatown
Service Center, Koreatown Youth and Community Center, Little
Tokyo Service Center CDC, Search to Involve Pilipino Americans
and Thai Community Development Center. It was established
in 1999 and is supported also by an SBA Women's Business
Center ongoing grant.
